A hotel minibar cabinet is the casegood that hides the refrigerator, the kettle and the glassware while keeping the guest room looking like a room. It is a ventilation problem and a housekeeping problem as much as a furniture one, and it is judged every time a guest opens the door.
The cabinet must absorb an appliance that produces heat, condensation and noise, inside furniture that guests see, touch and open at close range. Design logic starts from the appliance. The cooling unit needs air at the back or through the base, a route for the cable and plug, and clearance for the door to swing without striking the carcass. Around that core, the cabinet offers a quiet front, a working top and storage for glasses and a kettle. Together they read as cabinetry; apart, as a fridge in a box.
The carcass is built around a cooling appliance: a frame with a service void, not a closed box. Moisture-facing panels should be sealed and the base tolerate drips. Ventilation runs low at the front and high at the rear, or through a plinth grille, and must stay clear. Glass or coated board shelving holds glasses and dry goods. The front may be a hinged door or a drawer face on runners. The top works as a console and should resist spills. Add a cable cutout, socket and housekeeping lock.
First decide who supplies the refrigerator. If the operator does, build the cabinet to that unit's footprint and airflow, and order both together. Condensation is the common failure, so ask how base and rear void handle moisture. Door hardware faces guests who do not know it, so specify a robust hinge. Housekeeping needs quick restocking, so favor sensible shelf heights. Check interior surfaces for seams that trap spills. On a mock-up, run the appliance for a day, work the door repeatedly, then inspect the rear void for trapped heat.
At a glance:
Ventilation and moisture decide whether the cabinet lasts
Concealed front, working top, glass and dry goods storage
Confirm fridge supply, airflow and door hardware on a mock-up
